Rathdowney Intercultural Day will take place in Rathdowney's Community Centre on Saturday May 8th from 12pm-5pm.

The day promises a wide variety of workshops, performances and entertainment.

The event is organised by the Commercial Inn, Laois Partnership Company, the Malva Ukrainian Choir and the Ukrainian Laois Support Association (ULSA).

The Intercultural Day will feature elements of African, Ukrainian and Brazilian cultures. Residents of the Commercial Inn will be taking part, and the Malva Ukrainian Choir will preform from 2:30pm.

A music workshop on Brazilian instruments will take place from 3:30pm, and well known Ukrainian artist Oksana Rohovska will be providing a painting workshop for kids.

There will also be educational activities through arts and crafts for children of all ages to learn more about different cultures.

"The people of Rathdowney are so involved, we want to thank them and praise them for their openness," said event organiser Cássia O'Neill. "They're always so willing to engage."
