The couple and their wedding party were certainly the most glamorous voters at the polling station today, having stopped by while on their way to the wedding reception.

There are currently 47 candidates in Laois vying for a county council seat, with the 19 outgoing candidates seeking re-election. For the European elections, Laois is in the Midlands North West constituency which has the biggest field with a record 28 politicians set to go before the people in 14 counties.
Voter turnout has been stronger in rural Laois so far, with turnout expected to pick up this evening.
