Dublin Road Portlaoise
Gardai are urging motorists to avoid the old Dublin Road in Portlaoise as an emergency road closure is in place.
The road is expected to be closed for a number of hours to facilitate emergency works after a water main burst.
“Following an incident in Portlaoise, Uisce Éireann Irish Water mains repairs are currently underway on the Dublin Road in the town.
Traffic leaving Portlaoise on the Dublin Road is being diverted at the Hospital a detour is in place. Significant delays are expected,” Gardaí said.
Motorists are advised to please consider an alternative route, where possible,” gardaí said.
Gardaí expected the diversions to remain in place for between three and five hours this Thursday evening.
