A Portlaoise pizzeria which closed after a female customer was allegedly sent sexual messages has had its front window broken.

Mizzoni’s Pizza in Portlaoise announced it was closing temporarily pending an investigation into an allegation that sexual messages were sent to a woman who had ordered a pizza.

The company issued an online statement on Wednesday night announcing that it is closing the Portlaoise franchise with immediate effect.

“We have received allegations of offenses and serious misconduct and are conducting an internal formal investigation. Due to the seriousness of said allegations we today made the decision to withdraw our services which has forced the shop to close,” Mizzoni’s Pizza stated.

“Mizzoni’s Pizza head office have an experienced Franchisee and his team who will reopen Portlaoise. We expect it to reopen in about three weeks,” the company stated.
