Champion Paralympian swimmer Nicole Turner's classmates at Coláiste Iosagáin in Portarlington are cheering her on while watching her races on the big screen in school.
Nicole aged 14 is a second year pupil at the school, who has “life lessons for all of us” according to Deputy Principal Siobhán Higgins.
“Our first and second years have been watching every race during schooltime live, and through the whole length of every race they clap and shout her name,” she said.
“There is huge excitement, a great feelgood factor in school. We are immensely proud 0f her.
“What was an adversity in the beginning, through her tenacity and hard work, Nicole has shown that anything is possible, and to go after your dreams. She follows a gruelling training routine yet every day she comes to school with a smile on her face,” the deputy principal said.
A big welcome back is planned.
“We can't wait, she will get a hero's welcome,” Ms Higgins said.
