Portarlington Paralympian Nicole Turner was given a hero's welcome this week as she returns home this week with Team Ireland.
The Irish team arrived back into Dublin Airport from Rio on Wednesday, Sept 21 with their flight scheduled to touch down at 12:05pm.
The Laois Marlins swimmer was given a big welcome at Portarlington's Leisure Centre later that day.
Teachers and pupils at her secondary school, Coláiste Iosagáin, are hoping Nicole will be able to make it to a school homecoming this Friday.
Nicole aged 14 is a second year pupil at the school. Deputy Principal Siobhán Higgins says the school is looking forward to welcoming her home.
“We can't wait, she will get a hero's welcome,” Ms Higgins said.
“What was an adversity in the beginning, through her tenacity and hard work, Nicole has shown that anything is possible, and to go after your dreams. She follows a gruelling training routine yet every day she comes to school with a smile on her face,” the deputy principal said.
