Paralympian swimmer Nicole Turner is sure to get a great welcome home from Rio to Portarlington Community Centre this weekend.
The local community has organised a big homecoming event starting at 4pm this Saturday, September 24.
“We invite as many people as possible to turn out to show Nicole how proud we all are of her. She is an amazing young girl and performed amazingly in Rio.
“We are all very proud of you Nicole,” say the organisers.
The Laois Marlins swimmer, who is aged 14, is also in line for a big welcome home at her school on Friday morning.
Students and staff at Coláiste Íosagáin have organised a big celebration for Nicole who made five finals at her first Paralympic games in Brazil.
While she did not win a medal, Nicole was given the honour of carrying the Irish Flag as she led Team Ireland out at the closing ceremony in Rio.
