No event is pencilled in for Laois during Jobs Week which takes place this week.
National Jobs Week is an annual initiative hosted by the Department of Social Protection. It runs from Monday-Friday, September 26-30.
On the Departments website no Laois event is mentioned. Other counties such as Offaly have no events listed either.
The Department says the week aims “to showcase the range of employment supports and services available to employers and jobseekers”.
Latest live register figures for Laois show that there were 6,700 people signing on in Laois. It is down 10 per cent on the same time last year.
However, it is still nearly three times more than the number signing on in Laois in August 2006.
Over 150 events will be held in venues across the country to provide information and practical support to local employers and jobseekers.
There are some events in neighbouring counties.
On Thursday 29 September 11am - 6pm there Job and Advice Fair at the Fairgreen Shopping Centre, Carlow including Business to Business Briefing for Employer Exhibitors
Also on Thursday there will be a Jobs Fair in Hotel Kilkenny from 10am to 3pm.
