The Community Alert group in Borris-in-Ossory has made a statement outlining its efforts to keep thieving gangs out of their area.
The Community Alert Group in the south Laois village has confirmed that a total of 17 CCTV cameras, which are fully authorised, have been installed.
The group say the cameras are approved by the Garda Commissioner, the Data Commissioner and Laois County Council.
They says the cameras have been installed “to help combat crime in the Borris in Ossory area.
The following are the camera locations-
St Canice's Church (5) Shanboe (1) Roscrea Road (1) Dublin Road (2) Court House (2) Ballaghmore (2) Killasmeestia (1) Green Roads (2) Knockaroo(1).
The Community Alert committee thanked the community for their support to date. The Group are currently renewing membership to the Text Alert Service, which they say is an invaluable asset in conjunction with the camera system in our area.
They encouraged poeple to join the Text Alert Service. “The more eyes and ears looking out for each other and in particular the elderly, the more secure our area will be,” says the committee.
