Court - Off the road for six years

An Abbeyleix woman has been disqualified from driving for her third conviction of driving without insurance.

Justine Hibberd, Abbeyleix, was charged with having no driving licence, insurance, NCT or tax, at Derrykearn, Abbeyleix, on January 4 this year.

Garda William Whelan gave evidence that the accused had two previous convictions for driving without insurance.

Defence, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick admitted that her client’s previous convictions for no insurance was an aggravating factor.

Ms Fitzpatrick said that on the day the accused got a call to pick up a friend of her son and she took the foolish decision to drive.

The accused was convicted and fined €300, and disqualified from driving for six years.
