Knifepoint robbery in Portlaoise clothes shop

The gardaí are appealing for information after a female shop assistant in Portlaoise was held up at knifepoint at the weekend and the store robbed.

The brazen robbery took place at Virgo clothes shop, Main Street, Portlaoise, at 5.25pm on Saturday, November 12.

A lone male entered the store and produced a large knife, with which he threatened the female shop attendant. The robber ordered the woman to open the till, before he fled the store with a quantity of cash.

The culprit was in his early 20s or early 30s, 5’ 9” in height and of slim build, and had a midlands accent. He was dressed in jeans and had short dark hair.
