Santa will be in Portlaoise this weekend and you'll be able to get your selfie with him when he pays a special visit to town to turn on the Christmas lights and be the guest of honour at the annual Christmas Market.

Next Sunday, November 27 promises to be a great day of festive fun in Portaoise thanks to the Downtown Portlaoise traders association.

Kicking off at 11am the Portlaoise Christmas Market runs all day until 7pm with over 40 stalls packed with lots of perfect Christmas gifts.

Santa arrives, 'for plenty of selfies' at 2pm just in time for the Santa Fun Run, registration for which starts at 2.30 pm in O'Loughlins Hotel car park. The big race starts at 3pm.

Santa turns on the spectacular Christmas lights at 4.30pm.

The day also features stalls, choirs, face painting, balloon animals and much more.

Come early because there is so much to fit in!

The event is supported by Laois County Council and Laois Hire.
