Deli worker Jenny Conroy from Mountmellick got the surprise of her life when her idol, country star Nathan Carter surprised her in McConville’s SuperValu Mountmellick recently. Last Sunday November 20 the visit was featured on his RTE show.
The ‘Wagonwheel’ hit singer arrived with flowers, to meet his biggest Laois fan last August, taking to the supermarket microphone to call her to the checkouts, to the delight of customers, and her utter shocked joy.
“I was so surprised, he was very nice, genuine on and off the cameras,” said Jenny, 32, whose immediate reaction was to whip off her paper deli hat, and worry about not wearing any make-up.
“He’s a great singer, and he’s not bad looking,” a delighted Jenny said on screen, before enjoying a quick jive with Nathan as he serenaded her with ‘Shut up and Dance’.
Her friend and co-worker Shauna Blake had made the surprise happen.
