A Laois fundraiser has raised €30,000 to help the homeless.

The Laois Friends of Simon have confirmed that so far €30,000 from the Sleep out for Simon held in O'Moore Park GAA grounds Portlaoise in October. Nearly 200 people took part.

"The Laois friends of Midland Simon wish to thank everybody who helped in any way to make the recent sleep out in O’Moore Park such a success," said Michael Martin of the local charity.

"At present the figure raised is approx €30,000, an outstanding testament to the generosity of the people of Laois".
