Five more housing estates in Laois that were left incomplete since the housing crash, have been finished and taken in charge by the local authority, with work underway to take in five more.
At the November meeting of Laois County Council, members voted to take on New Line Close and Radharc na Sleibhte in Mountrath, Bruach na hAbhann in Mageney, and Aghnaharna Court in Portlaoise.
The council is also seeking €172k of grants Under the National Taking in Charge Initiative, to finish off five more estates across Laois.
Three are in Mountrath totalling 143 homes, with 48 at Ard Erin, 10 at Wallis Street and 85 at Rushall. Also included are 15 units at Hynd’s Square, Portlaoise, and 7 in Mill Court, Borris-in-Ossory.
