Funding has been obtained for safety works at Shanahoe National School under the Town and Villages Renewal Scheme.
The commitment was made at county hall recently by Mr Wes Wilkinson, acting senior executive engineer, in response to a motion proposed by Cllr John Fennelly.
Mr Wilkinson said the council intends to have a proposal agreed soon and for the works to be completed in April 2017.
