A victim impact statement has been sought on a woman who was struck by the sister of her former partner.
Rosemary Greene (25), O’Moore Place, Portlaoise, was last week charged with assault. Inspector Maria Conway gave evidence that on September 15, 2017, at O’Moore Place, the accused came out of the house shouting at the injured party and hit her several times. The accused had no previous convictions.
Defence, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick said her client had written a letter of apology and had €50 compensation.
Defence said that the injured party had been in a relationship with the accused’s brother. The injured party was outside the house and the accused felt she was looking in. The accused was upset over the relationship ending between the parties and she went out and struck the other woman. Directing that the letter of apology and compensation be handed over, Judge Catherine Staines put the matter back to June 7 for a victim impact statement.
