Mountrath attack accused appear in court

Three Laois people charged with assault causing harm in relation to an attack on a Mountrath man out celebrating the birth of his child appeared before Portlaoise Circuit Court.

The accused are Geroid Burke, Clencondra, Camross; Kim Cuddy, Rushin Road, Mountrath; and Dean Delaney, Cardtown, Mountrath.

It is alleged that a man out celebrating the birth of his child was set upon by the accused in a Mountrath chippers on September 25, 2016.

Dean Delaney entered a guilty plea. His case was adjourned to June 26 next, for a probation report and victim impact statement.

Geroid Burke pleaded not guilty and a trial date has been set for June 26 next.

In the case of Kim Cuddy, barrister Mr Colm Hennessy requested the matter be put back to the next sessions of the circuit court. Her case was adjourned to June.
