A book of evidence has been served on an Abbeyleix woman charged with stealing money from the parents council of the local primary school.
At last week’s sitting of Portlaoise District Court, Bernadette Moran (40), Lower Boley, Abbeyleix, was charged with three counts of theft:
It is alleged that between October 1, 2014, and September 1, 2016, she stole €2,228 in cash, coinage and cheques, from the treasurer of the Scoil Mhuire Parents Association.
Between October 1, 2014, and September 30, 2015, it is alleged she stole €1,075 from the same injured party.
And between September 1, 2015, and August 31, 2016, it is alleged she stole €1,300 from the same.
The matter has now been sent forward to Portlaoise Circuit Court on December 4 next.
Legal aid was assigned to solicitor, Ms Thomasina Connell and one junior counsel.
