Coast Guard helicopter called as car enters canal in Laois

The Coast Guard helicopter assisted emergency services in Vicarstown in response to a car in the canal on Saturday. 

Laois Offaly Gardai posted images of the dramatic rescue efforts as Gardai, ambulance service and Laois Fire and Rescue responded to reports of the car entering the canal. 

Gardai said: “Laois Gardai were alerted to a vehicle that had entered the canal at Vicarstown.” 

“A rescue operation was mounted by Gardai, Laois Fire and Rescue services, HSE ambulance and Coast Guard Rescue 115.“

“The vehicle was located after a comprehensive search and removed from the canal. Thankfully no one was injured in the incident,” Gardai stated.
