Laois Garda alert as con artist robs cash from pensioner
Man understood to be driving a grey car
Laois Offaly Gardaí have issued an appeal for the public's assistance after money was robbed from a house by a man pretending to check pensions.
The appeal issued on January 30 says a man aged in his 30s is believed to calling to houses in Laois on criminal endeavour.
They say that when the door is opened to him he will ask to check the householder's pension book. However, this is just a rouse to distract attention from his real purpose which is to steal.
Unfortunately, Gardaí have warned that he managed to successfully distract a person's attention to give him enough time to locate and rob money from their home.
As a consequence, Laois Offaly Gardaí have issued an alert via Facebook. They say the individual is believed to be travelling in a small grey car.
The alert on social media did not provide details as to when or where the theft took place.
