Aava Hearns, 19, from Portlaoise.
The Leinster Express as exclusive Laois Rose media partner is delighted to introduce you to each and every Laois Rose 2018 entrant, ahead of the Laois Rose Selection night this Sunday May 6.
Every day we will profile two more of the contestants. Today give a big welcome onto our virtual stage for Aava Hearns, 19, from Portlaoise.
A graduate of Portlaoise College, Aava is now studying to become a secondary school teacher in Mary Immaculate College in Limerick.
She is also a volleyball champion. Aava captained Portlaoise College's winning team in her most recent final, and was awarded the title of Most Valuable Player.
"I love sports and anything that provides a challenge for me, I earned a Bronze Gaisce medal and I have previously won three All-Ireland titles with Portlaoise College, in both senior and cadette leagues," Aava said.
Also with Portlaoise College, she travelled to Africa on a humanitarian trip.
"I love to travel and I travelled to The Gambia as part of a charity project run in the school, to bring over supplies and do up their schools and facilities. Something which I hope to do again in the future," the student said.
For now her sights are set on the Laois Rose Selection night this Sunday.
"I am excited going forward for Laois Rose and I am delighted to be sponsored by the Midlands Park Hotel, and look forward to representing them," Aava said.
