Cian Kelly was the star of the show at the Leinster Novice Road Race held in Gowran on Saturday 30th April. The course followed the traditional route with the one mile loop of Gowran Village hosting the championships.
After, recently returned from a stint away at altitude training in Sierra Nevada, Cian sat in with the group until the final stages when he made his break for home. Cian finished 13 seconds ahead of second place in 18:47 for 6k.
The Novice Men’s team finished just outside the medals, finishing 4th club and county. Cian was followed home by John Fenlon in 18th, Stephen Hunter in 25th, Conor Barry 34th, Philip O’Hara 38th and Patrick Dunne in 43rd.
While Cian’s individual performance was exceptional, the Novice Women’s team also had a fantastic performance taking gold club medals and 3rd county.
