The fifth running of The Great Heath 10k took place on Sunday, with almost 450 runners taking part.
The mens race was won by local runner Tony O’Reilly from Ballyroan Abbeyleix and District, with St Michael’s duo Stephen Hunter and Mark Hackett second and third.
The first woman across the line was international athlete Orla Drumm in a blistering time of 35.41, almost four minutes ahead of her nearest challenger, Grace McConnell. Becky Coughlan was third lady home.
The race, run by The Heath GAA club, is organised by Michael Lenihan, Billy Hennessy, JJ Tynan, Luke Hyland, Seamus Mulhare and Donal Bigley, and they would like to thanks their sponsors, Laois County Council and Laois Tourism, Luke Hyland Engineering, Tynan Plastering, Dan Keane Architectural and JK Autos.
