Portlaoise Panthers star Maeve Phelan will be back in the Irish jersey again this summer, as she heads to Udine in Italy for the European U-18 Championships.

Maeve was on the Irish U-18 team which made history in 2017 by qualifying for the final of the European U-18 Championships, which were held in Dublin.

It was the first time any Irish team had ever reached a European final, and they will be hoping for a repeat of that performance in Italy this August. The competition runs from August 4 to August 12, and as with all of these trips for talented young Irish basketballers, it is entirely self-funded.

Maeve, who is currently sitting her Leaving Cert, will be holding a bag pack in Dunnes Stores next weekend to raise funds for the trip.

Any local businesses or individuals who could like to donate money to help cover Maeve's costs can do so by contact Portlaoise Panthers Basketball Club via e-mail, info@portlaoisepanthers.com.
