Portlaoise Panthers U-13 girls welcomed Kilkenny Stars to St Mary’s hall for a fantastic game of basketball.

Rachel Glynn was first up on the score board followed quickly by Ciara Byrne. The Panthers settled into the game and finished the first quarter with a five point lead, thanks to excellent rebounds and defence from Jasmine Burke and fast breaks from Grainne O’Reilly.

Kilkenny Stars gave everything they had but it wasn’t enough to stop the mighty Panthers, finishing the second quarter with a fifteen point lead, top scorers in this quarter were Sarah Fleming, Shauna Dooley and Ellen Garvey.

The second half of the game was full of excitement, with shots from Sinead Brady and Ella Byrne, who had great success with free shots also. Rebecca Reddin and Sinead Murphy played outstanding on both defence and offence, winning every loose ball possible, fast breaks from Jessie Preston and accurate passes from Ellenor Healy confirmed a well served win for the Panthers.
