The Midland Horseshoe Pitching League finished on a high on Wednesday 25th June in Tegral Sportsfield.
There was a marvellous turnout of pitchers for the six evenings of the League and the pitching was of the highest standard, one could not have asked for more.
The man who led the field from the first evening was Paddy Byrne and even though it was a nailbiting final evening for him with James Hosey being next to him on points and close on his heels.
Paddy pulled out all the stops and with the help of his partner on the evening P J Delaney they took the two points in the losers group, to carry Paddy over the line on nineteen points to James Hosey’s eighteen for second place.
Jim Kelly finished on twelve points taking third place. There is a tie for fourth place between Denis Ryan, Jimmy Mackey and last years winner Gerry Hyland
