Laois second team had a comfortable victory over Merrion in the final of the YMCA Silver Salver competition played at Leinster Cricket Club in Rathmines on Saturday.
Batting first, Laois batted steadily to post a respectable total of 152 for 5 off their 20 overs. All the Laois batsmen played their part, with five batsmen scoring over twenty, and Rashid and Tariq both top scoring on 31. Tom Cosby finishing the innings in fine style hitting 2 sixes in the last over.
In the field, Laois were on top from the start thanks to tight bowling lead by Amir. The fielding was excellent and was rewarded by a total of 6 catches, the pick of which was from Tom Cosby on the boundary.
In the end, Merrion conceded the match to Laois when rain stopped play for the third time with the score on 90 for 9. Man of the match award went to Sherry who contributed 21 runs and 3 wickets. Well done to captain Willie Lalor and the team.
