On Saturday 22nd of June St Abbans Athletics Grounds will once again host the Laois Community Games Athletics County finals.
The days calender of events will commence at 10.45 am with Javelin, Discus, Long Puck and Throw Ball preceeding the parade which will start at 12 noon.For safety reasons these events are held before the track events therefore competitors should assemble at the grounds approx 30 minutes before their event for regristration.
Hurdles will be the the first track event of the day, this year both sides of the track will be used for sprints which will speed up the running order of the day. Also, events will start with U-16s and work backwards through the relevant age groups. Relay team races will take place as usual at the end of the running order but will also start with Boys/Girls U-16 and work backward through the relevant age groups.
Selected Relay Teams to be with the county secretary Jane Walsh in the Tower no later than 2pm thank you. The Marathon will commence at 2pm.
An entry charge of €3 applies at entry gate for adults and competitors alike on the day thank you. Programme of events will be on sale for €1 each. As requested all areas are required to send at least one person to act as officals on the day thank you. Ballyfin will read the Community Games Pledge in Irish and Rathdowney also in English. Refreshments will be availabe on the day at the mobile fast food and shop located within the grounds. Good luck to all the competitors from the twelve areas who are competing for qualification to the National Finals which will be held in Athlone IT in the coming August.

Killenard Community Games Results
Our Area Athletics Finals were held in O’Dempsey’s a few weeks ago. We had more than 70 children competing in beautiful sunshine. Many thanks to O’Dempsey’s for the use of the facilities, and to all the parents who helped out on the night.
