Success for Arles brothers

Brothers Eoghan and Oisín Chelmiah from Arles travelled as part of an 18 strong Irish team to the International Karate Union World Championship last weekend in Caorle, Italy

The competition was held from October 11 to October 13 with the initial weigh in taking place on the Wednesday.

Both boys have represented Ireland numerous times over the past eight years and were competing in two events each in this championships. Oisín aged 12 was in the U-14’s and took gold in Kata and bronze in Kumite while Eoghan aged 17 competed in the U-18’s and took bronze in the Kumite beating a Romanian for the third place position.

There were twenty counties taking part in the event with over 800 competitors.
