Despite over 20,000 people losing electricity supply overnight due to the high winds brought by Storm Emma, Laois has managed to escape any power outages so far.

Over 1,700 people have been hit with a power outage in Kildare just outside Monasterevin and 56 are without power near Edenderry in Offaly.

Thousands of customers have been affected by large faults in Dublin, Wicklow and across Kildare with snow up as high as door handles in Citywest, Co. Dublin.

Snow was still falling in almost all areas of Laois at 12pm on Friday and the risk of power or water outages still remain.

Irish Water has not reported any water outages in Laois either.

People in the Luggacurren and Wolfhill areas were warned of low water pressure and a possibility of pipes freezing over or bursting.
