Remains of Storm Debby set to whip Ireland with stormy weather

The remnants of Storm Debby are set to make for a wet and muggy weekend with heavy bursts of rain on the cards for Saturday, according to the latest Met Éireann forecast.

Wet and windy weather will spread to many parts from the west during the weekend as the former tropical storm hits from Saturday.

Storm Debby formed 1,200 miles east of Boston in the Unitied States. While Debby has lost its power, forecasters say it is still likely to cause some weather disruption.

Before it arrives the weather is likely to remain showery. Forecasters also say tthat hangeable and unsettled weather will continue, with an Atlantic weather pattern continuing.

Today, Friday, will be mostly dry with some sunny spells but scattered showers will continue to affect the west and north, with a few heavy showers in the north. Top temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees, warmest in the south and winds will be light to moderate westerly.

Friday night will be dry in most parts, with clear spells, but cloudy conditions, with rain and drizzle, will extend from the Atlantic, affecting some western and southern areas. Min. 5 to 7 degrees in the north, 9 to 14 elsewhere, mildest in the southwest. 

Saturday will begin cloudy and misty, with patchy rain and drizzle in the morning. More persistent rain will extend from the Atlantic during the afternoon and evening, with some heavy bursts. Hill and coastal fog will occur also.

It ill be quite warm and humid. Max. 17 to 21 Celsius, in mostly moderate winds, mainly southeast at first, veering south to southwest and freshening along western and southern coasts. Further outbreaks of rain on Saturday night.

Sunday will remain quite warm and humid, with rain in eastern counties in the morning, clearing to bright spells and scattered showers, some possibly heavy. Max. 17 to 22 C. in light variable breezes.

Monday is expected to bring some bright spells, but a few scattered showers also. Max. 17 to 21 Celsius, in mostly light west to northwest breezes. 

The indications suggest that Tuesday will be mostly dry, with bright or sunny spells, but outbreaks of rain and drizzle will develop in Atlantic coastal counties.

Further outlook is for unsettled and changeable, with warm humid conditions likely for midweek, with occasional outbreaks of rain and drizzle, but with some dry intervals also, especially in the east and south.
