Winter snow descends on Laois Offaly General Election counting in Portlaoise

general election #ge2020

Snowy start to counting in Portlaoise.

Laois Offaly counting is underway but snowy weather that has descended on Portlaoise looks set to affect the turnout of candidates and their supporters for the remaining seats on offer.

With a blizzard forecast by Met Éireann, snow is falling outside the turnout.

With little to be fought about in terms of who wins the Laois Offaly seats the weather could turn out to be the big story of the day in Laois as Mountmellick is being threatened by flooding.
