“It’s the intention next year to complete a survey of trees in Council-owned cemeteries,” Director of Services Donal Brennan told a Borris-in-Ossory / Mountmellick Municipal District meeting. He was replying to Cllr James Kelly.
And Senior Executive Engineer Paul McLoughlin said the Council would also look at roadside trees
Cllr Seamus McDonald: “There are overgrown trees in Camross, Clonaslee and Rosenallis cemeteries.”
Cllr Paddy Bracken: “There are huge trees in St Joseph’s Cemetery in Mountmellick. If they fall they will cause untold damage to headstones. There’s a health and safety issue in Clonaslee cemetery. It’s urgent.”
