Disabled car parking spaces 'priority' in Laois town says councillor

Laois County Council is going to assess the need for disabled car parking spaces at both St Fergal's Church and the ICA hall in Castletown.

This comes as Cllr James Kelly tabled a notice of motion at the recent May meeting of the Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick Municipal district asking that the local authority provide disabled car park spaces at these locations.

Senior Executive Engineer at Laois County Council Mr Paul McLoughlin said that the local authority will assess the request onsite and provide disabled car parking spaces within the public area under its control as necessary.

“The hall has been used by the ICA since the 1940's and it is a priority that anyone with a disability can get parking close to an entrance,” Cllr Kelly said.
