'Severe' flooding on 'high capacity road' says Laois councillor

'Severe' flooding issues at Tom Cashin's garage in Ballacolla need to be addressed according to Laois County Councillor James Kelly.

Cllr Kelly tabled a notice of motion at the recent Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick Municipal District meeting asking the local authority to address the flooding.

Senior Executive Engineer at Laois County Council, Mr paul McLoughlin said that the local authority will 'investigate' the flooding issues at the location and 'proceed as appropriate' with any flood relief measures possible.

Cllr Kelly welcomed this decision and said it is a busy road.

“This is one of the busiest roads for traffic going to the Sunny South East. It is a high capacity regional road so I welcome a visit to it to see what can be done,” he said.
