Laois Business Incentive Scheme extended to include more vacant spaces in Portlaoise

Business Incentive Scheme extended to include more vacant properties in Portlaoise

Changes have been made to extend the Portlaoise Business Incentive Scheme into more parts of Portlaoise.

The scheme aims to provide a grant incentive for new businesses to set up in premises that have been vacant for over six months and to encourage diversity in retail opportunities in the town centre.

The scheme has been in operation for the last four years with several businesses getting a rate reduction.

Now, the scheme has been extended to include businesses at Bull Lane, Lyster Lane and Pepper's Lane in the town centre just off the Main Street.

Portlaoise councillors welcomed the extension of the project to include more businesses in the lanes.

Cllr Wille Aird thanked businesspeople in the town who have worked hard to brighten up vacant old buildings in the town with murals and other work.
