Cystic Fibrosis
fundraising appeal

Dear Editor

Dear Editor

I am writing in relation to Cystic Fibrosis Ireland’s One in 1,000 Flora Women’s Mini Marathon fundraising appeal taking place on June 2.

There are approximately 1,000 people in Ireland living with cystic fibrosis and the aim of our One in 1,000 appeal is to bring together 1,000 women running and raising money for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.

Funds raised will go towards the provision of information and support, grant assistance, research and the funding of dedicated hospital facilities for people with cystic fibrosis.

Readers of the Leinster Express might be interested to know that Ireland has among some of the most severe strains of cystic fibrosis and also has the highest incidence per head of population in the world, with three times the rate of the United States and the rest of the European Union.

Cystic Fibrosis Ireland relies almost entirely on the public to help it to do its work and so we would urge women in Laois to rally behind us for what is our biggest annual fundraising endeavour.

Participation can be as leisurely or as energetic as participants like, helping their mind and body fitness, as well as an opportunity for creating new friendships for life and being incredible fun.

Readers can find out more by calling LoCall 1890 311 211 or by visiting or
