What are your priorities?
I am committed to addressing the pressing issues of third-level education, sports facilities, and housing to pave the way for a thriving future for our community.
By advocating for a local third-level educational facility, we aim to retain our skilled workforce and bolster the economic vitality of Portlaoise.
To promote the holistic development of our youth, a comprehensive sports complex stands as an urgent necessity.
The issue of affordable housing remains a paramount concern for our community. Recognizing the challenges faced by our residents, my vision encompasses a shift towards sustainable and cost-effective housing solutions.
I advocate for the implementation of vertical constructions and modular homes, ensuring that every family has the opportunity to own a home and secure their future in Portlaoise.

What is the biggest issue facing your area?
In anticipation of the 2024 Local Elections, my primary focus remains steadfast on fostering progress and development within our beloved Portlaoise.

Why do you think you would make a good County Councillor?
My experiences, both in Ireland and abroad, have fortified my commitment to serving the interests of our community. Together, let us work towards a brighter and more prosperous future for Portlaoise, where the pillars of education, sports, and housing lay the foundation for a flourishing town.

Naeem Iqbal is a candidate in the Portlaoise Municipal District where seven councillors will be elected. In the lead up to polling day on June 7 we will be featuring profiles on all 47 candidates vying for a seat on Laois County Council.
