Four candidates were elected to represent the Portlaoise Municipal District on Laois County Council for the next five years following the 14 and final count in Portlaoise.
Outgoing Fianna Fáil councillors John Joe Fennelly and Catherine Fitzgerald were deemed elected by the Returning Officer Donal Brennan on June 10.
They will be joined in County Hall by Labours Marie Tuohy and Fine Gael's Barry Walsh. Both were elected on the last count with neither exceeding the quota as they had more votes than the only other remaining candidate Thomasina Connell who has lost her seat on the council for Fine Gael.
The final four candidates in the seven-seat constituency were elected following the elimination of Naeem Iqbal of Fianna Fáil.
