Work underway to improve comfort at Portlaoise hospital

The main entrance to Portlaoise hospital is being reconfigured to create a more comfortable environment for patients, visitors and staff, according to the HSE.

The main entrance is currently sealed off to allow construction workers carry out the work on the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise.

The HSE outlined the work being carried out to the Leinster Express / Laois Live.

“The current works taking place in the Entrance Hall of Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise include a reorientation of the Reception desk and a relocation of the Admissions Office, which will be more convenient for patients.

“The main entrance doors will also be improved by extending the entry space into the lobby, resulting in a more comfortable environment for all patients, visitors and staff. Works are programmed to be completed in the Springtime,” said a statement.

Also in the pipeline is an investment of €14 million in a new Respiratory Assessment Unit, an extension to the Paediatric Unit, additional accommodation at ground floor and first floor.
