Laois is set to receive a share of 110 new jobs which will be created when Topaz build two major new service stations, one near Ballacolla and the other in North County Dublin.
The two stations are being developed at a cost of €10 million. In addition to the full time jobs being created, an additional 200 people are employed on the development of the sites which will include service stations, restaurants and shops.
The Laois site is located at Junction 3 on the Dublin Cork [M8] motorway near Ballacolla, while the Dublin one is located at Junction 3, adjacent to where the M50 meets the M1 at Clonshaugh in North County Dublin. Both stations will open in January next.
Paul Candon, marketing and corporate services director at Topaz, said these new sites will provide services to approximately 50,000 motorists using the two motorways each day.
Though a welcome investment for the county, the announcement pales in comparison to the proposed expansion at Kildare Village, where a €50 million extension will create 380 jobs and 120 construction roles.
