Portlaoise’s Heritage Hotel is the venue for a talk which should be of interest to all with an interest in the history of sporting achievements in Laois.
Laois has only one All-Ireland title at senior county level. That was the win by the Laois hurlers in 1915. Laois Heritage Society have organised a talk on this famous event entitled “How Laois won the All-Ireland Hurling Championship of 1915” for Thursday, November 20 in the Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise, at 8.30pm.
The talk will be given by Paul Rouse, formerly an award winning journalist with Prime Time in RTE.
Paul has written extensively on the history of Irish sport and on the GAA. He is a lecturer at the School of History and Archives in UCD and is a director of the InQuest research group. He is co-Author of “The GAA – A People’s History” published in 2009.
The talk is part of the Society’s Autumn programme. The centenary will be marked by some special events in 2015.
