A Tullamore student said he had learnt not to drink the night before driving, after being fined and put off the road at last week’s court.
Stephen Callan, 21 Arden Heights, Arden Road, Tullamore, was charged with drink driving at Rossleighan, Portlaoise, on October 20 last year.
He had 89mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.
Inspector Aidan Farrelly said Callan had no previous convictions, and had cooperated fully with the gardaí.
Defence for Callan said the defendant was a 23-year-old student who had been driving back to college on the day after drinking the night before.
Judge Catherine Staines fined Callan €300 and disqualified him from driving for three years.
