Man who went to Garda station seeking lift home got unpleasant surprise from Laois Offaly gardaí

A man who went to Tullamore Garda station to ask for a lift home was arrested instead.

In his evidence to last week's district court, Garda Sergeant James O'Sullivan said that on June 5, 2022, Adam Kenny, (28) of 275, Arden View, Tullamore, went into the public office of the Garda station at Patrick Street, Tullamore, he was intoxicated and asked the Gardai for a lift home.

Sgt O'Sullivan said he was arrested and as he was a danger to himself and others.

''Did you not give him a lift home?'' asked Judge Andrew Cody.

''We are not a taxi service,'' responded Sgt O'Sullivan. ''It's a one way trip,'' he added.

A jeep and tools valued at over €9,500 were stolen in the burglary on Monday, January 9, 2020. The jeep was discovered in a badly damaged state in Tullamore, Co Offaly four days later.  

Mr Kenny a 28-year-old single man is unemployed. Judge Cody fined him €100.
