Portlaoise Hospital most overcrowded in midlands

The hospital in Portlaoise.

Portlaoise Hospital had the largest number of patients on trolleys in the Midlands this morning. 

According to Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation(INMO) trolley watch figures there were 15 patients without a proper bed in the hospital this morning. All 15 are in the Emergency Department.  

Despite the high trolley numbers, the HSE is reporting that the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise is Covid free at the moment. 

Elsewhere in the Midlands the INMO reported seven people on trolleys at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar and one in the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore. 

In neighbouring Kildare there were 13 on trolleys at Naas General Hospital while in Kilkenny there were 31 people on trolleys.
