Laois Government TD explains why he backs lifting of the eviction ban

Laois Offaly TD has backed the Government's decision to lift the ban on evictions.

The Fine Gael TD outlined his reason in a brief statement issued to the Leinster Express Laois Live. 

"I’m in agreement with Leo Varadkar and Paschal Donoghue on the eviction ban. It was always going to be a temporary measure," said the former Minister.

The measure has caused controversy with many saying it will make people homeless. The Government insists that it will help tackle the shortage of supply in the rental sector.

It says it will introduce other measures to help renters and landlords.
