Young Laois woman celebrates on her Dublin graduation day

Laois graduates were among the more than 1,000 people graduated from Dublin City University. 

Three ceremonies took place in the Mahony Hall in the Helix, on Friday, March 31, featuring students from the university’s five faculties: the DCU Business School, the Institute of Education, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Science and Health, and the Faculty of Engineering and Computing. 

Among them was young Laois woman Mollie Duff from Portlaoise who celebrated with fellow nursing graduates on the day.

Speaking on Friday morning, Prof Daire Keogh, President of Dublin City University encouraged the graduates to be active citizens. He said the upcoming 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement was a reminder of the importance of engaged citizenship  and of an education which develops civic skills for a new society.
