The Portlaoise Daffodil Day Committee expressed their thanks as donations exceeded €13,000.

Scoil Chríost Rí staff were thanked for their donation to Irish Cancer Society for holding a Daffodil Day staff event.

The Portlaoise Daffodil Day Committee also thanked the Transition Year class who volunteered in great numbers to help on the day.

“They were of great assistance in bundling fresh daffodils, delivering flowers and merchandise to different locations in downtown and working at the collection points,” said Cathy Fennelly of the committee.

Laois County Council and Portlaoise Hospital were also thanked for organising staff collections which added to the overall amount.

“The current total is over €13,000, with more donations to be added from the electronic terminals and QR code payments. This will fund local cancer support services such as Night Nursing and driving service for treatments,” Cathy explained.

Thanks from the Portlaoise Daffodil Day Committee to all of the generous donors and business support for the annual collection day.
