Laois Dublin match to test new Portlaoise traffic arrangements this Sunday

Pedestrian safety works excluded for roads off Laois N77 €2.5 million upgrade

The N77 Abbeyleix road in Portlaoise

Portlaoise’s new temporary traffic management arrangements will be put to the test this Sunday when Laois play Dublin.

Thousands of Dublin fans are expected to descend on Portlaoise for the match in O’Moore Park on Sunday afternoon.

However, many of the locations where fans would traditionally park won’t be open due to improvement works on the N77 Abbeyleix Road.

Supporters travelling by car and bus will also have to navigate the new route from the motorway to the O’Moore Park.

Laois GAA took to social media to highlight the new route ahead of a match in O’Moore Park on Tuesday.

Laois County Council has erected signage around Portlaoise directing traffic along alternative routes while the work is being carried out on the N77 Abbeyleix Road.

The road improvement work is expected to continue into the first quarter of 2024.
